Programs For Children/Adolescents

At Valle Vista Health System, we understand that children and adolescents have different treatment needs than adults. That’s why we offer mental health programs, both inpatient and outpatient, specific to younger patients.

Just as each patient is unique, so is the rehabilitation and recovery process. The level of intensity and duration of mental health treatment varies according to each patient’s needs.

Acute Inpatient Program

Inpatient hospitalization is meant to quickly stabilize the most serious psychiatric symptoms and allow for a transition to less intensive levels of care.
Program components:

  • Highly-structured and supervised environment.
  • Individual, group and family counseling as ordered by a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner.
  • Multi-disciplinary treatment program, including after-care planning.
  • 24 Hour nursing care.
  • Age-appropriate recreational therapy.
  • Medication management overseen by board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, Jennifer Comer, MD.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Short-term, outpatient treatment for patients who have received a primary psychiatric diagnosis, but don’t require around-the-clock care.

Program components:

  • Up to eight hours of treatment each day,  five days a week.
  • Individual, group and family counseling as ordered by the psychiatrist or nurse practitioner.

  • 24 hour nursing care.

  • Medication management overseen by board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, Jennifer Comer, MD.
